Dear Harley Parents and Guardians,

We are writing to update you on the progress of the Head of School Search and to give you an overview of what to expect in the coming weeks and months. As Harley parents and Trustees, we are honored to be leading the search for Harley’s next Head of School and engaging in the process of collectively envisioning our shared future.

Andrew Watson, from DRG Talent, is a team member assisting with our Head of School search. He will visit campus on Tuesday, March 19. Throughout the visit, and in a follow-up community survey, he will gather information about the personal and professional qualities and experiences community members seek in our next Head of School. He will also ask your opinion about the qualities of Harley and Rochester that will attract candidates to the position and the ways in which the community will support the new Head of School. This is an important opportunity for you to share feedback that will guide the search.

An Invitation to Meet with Our Search Consultant, March 19

  • All parents/guardians are invited to meet with a member of our search consultant group at three upcoming drop-in sessions.If you can’t make one of these open sessions, input gathered on our upcoming community survey will be equally valued as the search continues. Once the community data has been gathered and analyzed, DRG and the search committee will create an Opportunity Statement that will be shared widely to alert candidates about our school and our search.

    Timeline

  • March: The search consultants will visit our campus to speak with multiple stakeholders. A survey will also be sent to the community for additional feedback.
  • Spring: The Opportunity Statement will be posted and publicized.
  • Summer: The search committee will review applications and select semifinalists. The search committee will interview semifinalists, and select finalists to visit Harley when school resumes.
  • Fall: The finalists will visit Harley and be interviewed by the search committee with the goal of announcing the new Head of School in early fall.

Thanks in advance for your help as we start this important work. We will schedule finalists’ visits to campus in early fall, after the next academic year begins, to maximize opportunities for the community to meet them and then, again, provide feedback through another survey.
